Jamaal Charles needs to put the offense on his back

by Mark Horn | Mon, Sep 8th 9:57am EDT

There is one thing that is apparent after Sunday's astonishingly poor showing by the Chiefs, that unless they can get Jamaal Charles out in space and relegate Alex Smith back to the game manager role he thrived in last year, it will be a long season. Charles understands his role, as he told Sean Keeler after the game: 'We can get worse or we can get good. My job is to get the team good.' The lack of creativity in the Chief's offense was apparent early. Gone were the flair patterns, screens, and sweeps that were so critical to last years success. (http://arrowheadaddict.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Charles will be a fantasy factor going forward. While this game was a bitter pill for fantasy owners, Andy Reid is a smart coach and will get back to what the Chiefs do best. With the injuries on the defensive side of the ball, time of possession will be of utmost importance for the Chiefs. What this means is getting the ball to Charles in space and providing an offensive game plan that will play to Alex Smith's strengths as opposed to his weaknesses.
