Mike Wallace

Solid opening day for Wallace and the Dolphin offense

by Jeffrey Lee Colavecchio | Mon, Sep 8th 5:46pm EDT

Following a fumble recovery, WR Mike Wallace was on the receiving end of a 14-yard touchdown pass from QB Ryan Tannehill in the third quarter of Sunday's win over New England. The scoring drive went four plays for 34 yards in 2:04. Wallace finished the game with seven receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown. (MiamiDolphins.com)

Fantasy Impact:

While Tannehill did have some accuracy issues in the first half, he was able to rebound in the 3rd quarter with a real laser to Wallace for a TD and overall solid play. Wallace showed good effort on the catch, as it was almost broken up by the Patriots' Darrelle Revis. While there were many plays that will look ugly on film, Wallace and Tannehill produced when it counted in the second half. The way Knowshon Moreno is running will only sweeten the opportunities for the offense to stay going. Offensive coordinator Bill Lazor uses #11’s speed on short and intermediate routes, not strictly as a deep decoy. Wallace will be more dependable in fantasy football because of the way his skill set is utilized in Lazor's offense.
