Robert Griffin III

Gruden candid on Griffin's play

by Jonathan Ebanks | Mon, Sep 8th 10:51pm EDT

Redskins head coach said quarterback Robert Griffin III was "pretty good," but "not quite good enough" in reference to his play on Sunday against Houston. Gruden also said Griffin "didn't have much protection," but added that, "[Griffin has] got to throw it away." Gruden later said, "[Griffin] did complete 75 or 80 percent of his passes, which is good. But really, to score six points on offense? Not quite good enough." (Washington Post)

Fantasy Impact:

To Griffin's credit, he didn't do a bad job considering the heavy pressure he was under. J.J. Watt was all over during the entire game and the Texans' front seven controlled that matchup from beginning to end. But still, his command of the offense still needs much improvement. Little mistakes, such as not going through his progressions or not throwing away the ball, still hurt him too.
