Robert Griffin III

Griffin willing, able to run

by Scott Ellinwood | Thu, Sep 11th 1:59pm EDT

Redskins QB Robert Griffin III says that he is still able to run and his knee feels fine. That said, the team is still trying to improve his comfort level in the pocket. The key will be for RG3 to instinctively understand when to extend the play in the pocket and when to run. The process is frustrating to fans and owners, but will improve as the season progresses. Fantasy Impact:

RG3 has taken a lot of criticism for his growing pains as a pocket passer. It is important to remember that he did not have a pro playbook at Baylor and was used in a simplified read option offense by the Shanagan regime. HC Jay Gruden is trying to expand his game and if successful, this effort will improve his effectiveness and extend his career. Look for slow but steady improvement from RG3 over the balance of the 2014 season and make your lineup decisions accordingly based on your other options.
