DeMarco Murray rushes into the record book

by Chris Zolli | Mon, Oct 6th 10:14am EDT

Murray runs for 134 yards in yesterday's 20-17 over Houston, making him one of three players in NFL history to have 100+ rushing yards in their first five games of the season. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)

Fantasy Impact:

Murray is the undisputed fantasy MVP through five weeks of the season and his 192 total yards on 37 touches yesterday bring him up to 794 yards from scrimmage for the season. Murray is on pace to best Chris Johnson's NFL record for most yards from scrimmage in a single season, as Murray projects for 2,540 yards on the season. All is not perfect for Murray, though, as he lost another fumble yesterday, bringing him up to four lost fumbles on the season. Unfortunately this is yet another record that Murray set this year, as his previous season high was three fumbles lost. The Cowboys have to worry about the lost fumbles, but Murray's activity in the offense, the 31 carries yesterday were Murray's career high, dulls a bit of the pain of the lost fumbles. An extremely tough matchup against Seattle's second ranked rush defense looms, but Murray is still a top-5 running back option for Week 6.
