DeMarco Murray chases only Hall of Famers

There are only two rushing records that Murray really needs to fight for; one for consistency and the other for substance. (CBS Sports)

Fantasy Impact:

DeMarco Murray's 1,054 rushing yards through eight games makes him the fifth fastest to 1,000 and he is on pace to really be legendary. He is on pace for 2,108 yards, which would be three more yards than Eric Dickerson in his record breaking 1984 season. He has to accelerate his pace to catch up to O.J Simpson's 143.1 rushing yards per game in 1974 as his pace is fourth best, behind both Jim Brown in 1963 and Walter Payton in 1977 as well, with Murray running for 131.8 yards per game. Another impressive record that Murray chases is 14 straight 100-yard rushing games attained by Barry Sanders in 1997. The Cowboys play teams that are statistically mediocre in rushing defense through the last eight games of the season, averaging 15.5 to be exact, but do play two top-ten rush defenses, Arizona and Indianapolis, before this season ends. They play Arizona this week and Murray is still a top five option at RB, even with Tony Romo's status uncertainty. This is not the scary week for Murray owners, though. Week 16 may be a long time away, but Murray playing a top-10 rush defense in what might be a fantasy football championship weekend may be a bit of a heart break for Murray owners and Murray's pursuits of history.
