Russell Wilson practicing in sneakers

In an effort to prepare for the possible freezing conditions in Kansas city, Russell Wilson has been practicing all week in sneakers. When asked about it, Wilson stated “Usually the cold places where we play has turf, so it’s a little different, but I’m getting ready for that, just in case, wearing non-spikes in case the ground is frozen. Cleats won’t go in the ground. I’ll be practicing in [sneakers], probably today, slightly. Just to kind of get a feel for what’s it’s going to feel like, get a feel for my balance and moving around.” (The Tacoma News Tribune)

Fantasy Impact:

The forecast in Kansas City calls for wet snow on Saturday and lows in the teens for Sunday, which will most likely lead to a slippery field. Its an interesting, and potentially savvy move by a quarterback who relies on being mobile to succeed. In regards to gripping the ball, Wilson has a hand size that lands him in the 88th percentile of all NFL QB's (according to playerprofiler.com), so gripping the ball will not be an issue. Kansas City has been tough against opposing QB's, and Wilson is in something of a slump, so redraft managers may want to consider picking up a QB with a favorable match-up (ie Josh McCown, Robert Griffin III, or Derek Carr) to start in place of Wilson this week.
