James Conner continues to impress

by Jody Smith | Cardinals Correspondent | Sun, Jun 17th 10:05am EDT

With Le'Veon Bell unsigned, second-year running back James Conner had a strong showing during OTAs and minicamp. Conner, who is fully recovered from a December MCL injury, took the majority of first-team reps and 'flashed nice speed and cutback ability in the backfield.' Bell, who has not signed the franchise tag, is likely to remain away from the team until September, which allows Conner to command a lot of touches throughout the preseason. Fantasy Impact:

Tagging Bell again in 2019 would cost the Steelers over $20 million, which is a preposterous salary for a running back. There's a very good chance that Bell will be allowed to test free agency after this season and that Conner could potentially be the starter as soon as next year. Assuming Bell signs, he'll be a workhorse, so Conner is merely a handcuff in redraft leagues, but the former Pitt standout has quite a bit of dynasty appeal.
