Doug Martin primed to remain starter in Bucs' backfield

by Taylor Jenkins | Sat, Nov 29th 12:37pm EST

Last Sunday against the Bears we watched Doug Martin seamlessly take back his role as the lead back in the Bucs' backfield. He led the Bucs' with 11 carries last week, compared to 6 by rookie Charles Sims. Quarterback Coach, Marcus Arroyo, said they plan to keep giving Martin the ball and that they still believe he can return to form. (Buccaneers.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Martin out-carried rookie Charles Sims 11 to 6 last week but only had 27 rushing yards compared to Sims' 22. Between Sims taking touches away, an ineffective offensive line, an inconsistent offense, and Martin playing just plain bad, I really don't see a situation in which I start him. You may think, "He's the lead back, he'll get touches and maybe a touchdown, right?" Well that would make sense if Martin wasn't averaging 2.8 ypc and didn't have only one of the teams four rushing touchdowns all season (two of which coming from McCown.)
