Carson Wentz on being ready by Week 1: "It's going to be close"

by Mike Maher | Chiefs Correspondent | Tue, Aug 14th 3:46pm EDT

Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz says it's "going to be close" in terms of whether he's ready for Week 1, reports ESPN's Eagles beat writer Tim McManus. The current plan is to ramp up workload next week and participate in team drills again. Wentz will be re-evaluated after Patriots game. (Tim McManus)

Fantasy Impact:

While this is not exactly breaking news, it is noteworthy that Wentz acknowledges that the decision is going to come down to the wire. While Wentz has implied all along that he would be out there if the decision was his alone, it ultimately comes down to whether team doctors are comfortable enough with where he is in his rehab to clear him for game action. For now, the expectation is still that Wentz will be the starter for the Eagles when Week One rolls around, but it does not sound like that is a certainty by any means.
