Carson Wentz diagnosed with fracture in his back

A number of tests over the last two days have revealed that Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has a fracture in his back, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. The team had done a number of CT scans on him throughout the year, but none revealed the fracture until Thursday. Rapoport adds that "The team is still determining if there is any risk of continuing to play. No surgery necessary." (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

This news almost certainly means that Wentz is done for the season and that the Eagles will have to rely on backup quarterback Nick Foles to keep their slim playoff hopes alive over the last three weeks. While the good news is that he is not expected to need surgery, there is little benefit to running him out there with a broken back in a season that has already been very disappointing for Philadelphia.
