Washington native Jonathan Stewart looks to make impact in return home

by Kevin C. Wilson | Sat, Jan 10th 1:01pm EST

Carolina running back and Washington native Jonathan Stewart returns to his home state on Saturday when the Panthers take on the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC divisional-round game. Stewart, who played his high school and college football in the state of Washington, made his first return trip as a pro in 2010, but Saturday's playoff game is on an entirely different level. "There's definitely been times when you either dream or have visions of playing against the Seahawks or for the Seahawks," Stewart said. "Being able to go up there during this playoff run is definitely something I cherish." (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

It's difficult to determine who is hotter right now - the Panthers or Stewart. Carolina enters Saturday on a five-game winning streak, while Stewart has averaged an NFL-best 101.5 rushing yards per game since taking over for the injured DeAngelo Williams as the full-time starter in Week 13. Stewart has also already proved that he can produce in the playoffs as he shredded the Cardinals defense for 123 yards and a touchdown in last week's wild-card win over Arizona. The former Oregon Duck will probably have a more difficult time gaining yards on the ground this week against the defending Super Bowl champs. As a result it might be wise to look elsewhere when you fill out your fantasy lineup this week.
