Robert Griffin III

'Skins' new GM doesn't want to give up on RGIII yet

Washington Redskins' general manager Scot McCloughan admitted that quarterback Robert Griffin III needs more time to develop before the team looks for a new franchise quarterback. (Washington Post)

Fantasy Impact:

McCloughan also said the complexity of the West Coast offense makes it hard for any quarterback to fully understand, and remembered that it took Brett Favre two years to master Mike Holmgren's West Coast scheme. He also alluded to the thought that what Griffin was able to do as a rookie should be taken into account as well, as far as his potential goes. This season was easily the toughest of Griffin's career so far, considering that he was benched during the middle of the season, and still only produced mixed results when he came back into the fold during the team's final two games. Head coach Jay Gruden still refuses to commit to Griffin as the team's starter and is worried about Griffin's football IQ above all else. The team will need to see if Griffin even has the instincts required to maintain success at the NFL level. Don't enter next season planning to draft a Redskins' QB in fantasy.
