Money could make sense for DeMarco Murray

DeMarco Murray is a free agent, but history shows that he should re-sign with the Cowboys. (CBS Sports)

Fantasy Impact:

Murray had the best season of any RB this year and will be a high draft pick. He was aided by an elite Cowboys line and deep threats like Terrance Williams and Dez Bryant whose double digit touchdown seasons opened up opportunities. It would be foolish for Murray to leave the Cowboys, but he must consider that his value will never be higher. Ten running backs in NFL history have topped 390 rushing attempts like Murray did this year. Murray is currently 26 years old, a common age for runners at this volume. These running backs averaged 234 carries, 944 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns in the following season, but saw their totals drop to 183 carries and 735 yards with three touchdowns in the by the third year since the high volume. Murray is valuable now and should make the most of the contract offered to him, by the Cowboys or elsewhere.
