Shane Carden not looking the part during Senior Bowl practices

by Brian Tesch | Sat, Jan 24th 1:25pm EST

DraftBreakdown.com's Bryan Perez named former East Carolina Pirate Shane Carden a loser of Senior Bowl week, stating “From a technical standpoint, his elongated release just won’t work in the league. The ball fluttered out of his hand and lacked any velocity. Poor ball placement. I really do hope I’m wrong, but he didn’t look the part of an NFL quarterback." (kansascity.com)

Fantasy Impact:

As proven in the cases of Byron Leftwich, Vince Young, and Tim Tebow, the words "elongated release" are the kiss of QB death. Carden is projected to be taken somewhere between rounds five and six of the NFL Draft, and it wouldn't surprise me if he slipped out of the draft entirely after this week. He'll need to land in an extremely fantasy-friendly system to have a hope of being relevant for fantasy purposes.
