Melvin Gordon III

Melvin Gordon may make sense for the Cowboys in the first round

With DeMarco Murray's contract situation in flux, the Cowboys may be smart to draft the Heisman Trophy finalist. (Dallas Cowboys)

Fantasy Impact:

Production is not a question with Melvin Gordon, who just finished with the second most rushing yards in a single season with 2587, but the Cowboys could have a logjam in the backfield with the addition of Gordon. The Cowboys really like Joseph Randle and, of course, there is the strong possibility that they re-sign 2014 rushing champion DeMarco Murray. However, if Gordon is the starting RB for the Cowboys, he would be the preseason favorite for rookie of the year and should be in a position for 1200-1400 all-purpose yards. Gordon averaged 7.9 yards per touch in college and scored 32 touchdowns in 2014; the only real demerit to Gordon's track record is his limited receiving skills, as he only had 22 receptions in his tenure at Wisconsin.
