National Football Post places 1st round grade on TE Maxx Williams

by Brian Tesch | Fri, Jan 30th 9:58am EST

Greg Gabriel of the National Football Post states that "[Maxx] Williams has to be rated as the top tight end in this year’s class, He is in the mold of what teams are looking for in that he can play flexed out and can cause problems for the defense. He is still young and won’t turn 21 until just before the draft so he still has room to get a little bigger. While playing inline isn’t his best asset, he can do it and can block to the enough level. Still, that would be wasting his talents as being lined up as the “move” tight end would put him into position to make plays. Assuming he works out well at the Combine, Williams should easily go in the first round." (The National Football Post)

Fantasy Impact:

Interestingly, Gabriel has running a 40 yard dash somewhere in the 4.57-4.61 range, contrasting from the CBS estimated time somewhere in the 4.7's. 40 yard dash minutiae aside, Williams has an uncommonly high share of the Golden Gophers passing yards and TD's, and has some serious helium in dynasty formats. While drafting a rookie in redraft is folly, Williams has streaming potential right away and is a solid dynasty pick.
