Alfred Morris should fit in with Bill Callahan's scheme

ESPN reporter John Keim has said that Alfred Morris' power running style meshes with what line coach Bill Callahan likes to do. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Bill Callahan does prefer power rushers, but his zone blocking scheme worked well in Dallas last year for the speedy, agile DeMarco Murray. Much of the Redskins problems running the ball last year can be attributed to inconsistent run play calls. They tried to merge outside zone runs with a power running philosophy, all while having an offensive line and tight ends who couldn't run block very well. Not to mention, Morris didn't hit his stride until mid-season. Callahan can provide some consistency with the rushing philosophy at the very least. With Helu probably on his way out, the team will likely try to get another third down back in free agency, like Darren Sproles or C.J. Spiller. Frank Gore is another back the team will look at, but he'd be mainly used as Morris insurance. The draft would still be the cheapest option to add some running back depth in the event that Helu leaves, however.
