Vernon Davis is in the 49ers' 2015 plans

The Broncos called the 49ers and asked about Vernon Davis after they lost Julius Thomas to the Jaguars. The 49ers were not interested in parting ways with him. (Benjamin Allbright on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
This comes on the heels of 49ers GM Trent Baalke stating that Davis was "absolutely" coming back next season. However, given their recent track record, the 49ers front office could tell you the sky was blue and you'd still look up just to be sure. Davis is coming off his absolute worst season as a pro, but the departure of Michael Crabtree and Steve Johnson will unclog the short game for the 49ers, which will lead to more targets. The addition of Torrey Smith should also open up the passing game. The talent and proven connection with Colin Kaepernick may make him worth a late-round flyer, given the morass of tight end options after the elite tier.
