BYU TE Devin Mahina signed by Redskins

by Jonathan Ebanks | Fri, May 8th 2:38pm EDT

Ex-BYU TE Devin Mahina was signed by the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent. (Vanquish the Foe)

Fantasy Impact:

In four seasons at BYU, Mahina caught 46 passes for 554 yards and four touchdowns. His relatively poor stats are mostly related to BYU not using the tight end as much as they used too. Regardless, he is poised to be a project player. The Redskins like him because of his character and his value in the locker room. At 6'6", he has the height to succeed at tight end and he has decent yards after the catch ability because he can break tackles and is remarkably fast for his size. He'll be a long shot to play in the league for a few years unless he displays softer hands and improves his blocking, though. He'll be lucky to make the roster.
