Eagles committed to DeMarco Murray and the ground game

Eagles running backs coach Duce Staley raved about newly acquired DeMarco Murray on Wednesday afternoon, adding that the Eagles "want to get back to running the ball. We want to get back to just taking over the line of scrimmage." (phillymag.com)

Fantasy Impact:

The exact workload amongst Murray, fellow free agent signee Ryan Mathews and swiss-army knife Darren Spoles is still to be determined. Staley noted the situation is similar to 2003, when he was part of a productive Eagles backfield committee with Correll Buckhalter and Brian Westbrook. "(Murray) is a perfect fit for us," Staley said. "Exactly what we want to do - full steam ahead, downhill. That’s what we’re preaching every day. One, two, three, four yards and a cloud of dust. And all the backs that we have, they’re able to do that." Former Eagles running back LeSean McCoy had a tendency to dance a bit much for coach Chip Kelly's preference, but he was still plenty productive in Kelly's power spread scheme. If he can stay healthy -- a major IF given last year's workload -- Murray will be in line to repeat as an elite RB1 and the lead dog of this 3-headed monster
