Eagles plan to divide backfield workload

by Jonathan Ebanks | Wed, Jun 3rd 11:48pm EDT

Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur will divide the backfield workload between DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews. (Delaware County Daily Times)

Fantasy Impact:

Shurmur also said, "They’re two really fine players." Both guys are quality backs who bring substantial starting experience to the table. However, Murray figures to be more of what Chip Kelly looks for in a back, a downhill runner, instead of what LeSean McCoy brought to the table. Even if Mathews gets 100+ touches, Murray should still be productive enough to outdo what McCoy did last year. Murray is now signed to a five-year, $40 million deal after breaking out as the rushing champion in 2014 with 1,845 yards and 13 touchdowns on 392 carries. Mathews is signed to a three-year, $11 million deal after an injury-riddled 2014.
