Tom Brady suspension ruling could come next week

by Michael Vincent | Thu, Jul 9th 1:35pm EDT

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell presided over Brady’s appeal in June and will make a decision on whether to uphold, reduce, or eliminate the Patriots quarterback’s four-game suspension. He has said that this decision will come some time next week, which falls in line with the original timeline after the appeal hearing. (Jack Andrade, Boston.com correspondent)

Fantasy Impact:

This is coming at a great time for fantasy owners who will have a better idea of how to go about drafting Brady and their overall QB strategy. If the suspension stays at four games, this spans five fantasy weeks (because of the bye week). At that point, using an early round pick on Brady may not be prudent, except for the fact that he was essentially discarded after Week 4 last season before he broke out and led the Patriots to the Super Bowl. If the suspension is reduced, Brady should factor into drafter's low end QB1/high end QB2 plans, knowing you will still get the majority of the season with him. If it is eliminated completely, look for his ADP to hover around 10, where it currently stands. Either way, there are better options out there for a few weeks other than their backup Jimmy Garoppolo. The recommendation here is if you want Brady, draft him where you would, and play match ups for the duration of his suspension.
