Matt Forte could see a dramatic drop off this season

There is no question that Matt Forte has been the focus of the Bears offense throughout most of his career. However, this year he carries a big risk as a RB1 in fantasy. Over the last two seasons, Forte has had 555 carries and 176 receptions; a pretty heavy workload. Not to mention, Forte turns 30 in December; the typical age for a RB to hit a cliff. (USA Today)

Fantasy Impact:

Personally, I think Forte will be fine this season and will produce top numbers again. He has always been a durable back and does not take many of the big hits most running backs do in this league. He does not turn 30 until very late in the season. With the way John Fox likes to run the football by committee, he might see less carries this year. However, I look to see his production of 3.9 ypc to increase with better play calling from a good coaching staff. On top of all of that, this is a contract year for Forte, and most guys produce bigger numbers when they know it affects their bank accounts. Role with Forte like usual as a RB1 this year, but beware of him dropping off next year since he will officially be 30 for the season. The age when greats like Marshall Faulk, Eric Dickerson, and many others fell off the cliff.
