Giovani Bernard gets limited action against Bears

by Matt Barbato | Sun, Aug 30th 12:08pm EDT

Bengals' running back Gio Bernard had an uneventful third preseason game against the Chicago Bears. Bernard rushed three times for six yards and caught two passes for nine yards Saturday night.

Fantasy Impact:

Bernard's inactivity in the offense is puzzling, as he is the second back behind Jeremy Hill. This could have been an anomaly or an attempt to preserve Bernard for the regular season, but it is odd to see him get only five touches in the pivotal third preseason game. Bernard is ranked as the 29th running back by our experts and is being drafted a bit later than that. This performance certainly won't encourage prospective fantasy owners, as it appears Jeremy Hill has a firm grasp on the starting job. Bernard should be more involved in the offense than Saturday night, but this is a situation to keep an eye on in the beginning of the regular season.
