Travis Kelce contained by Denver Broncos

by Mark Horn | Chiefs Correspondent | Fri, Sep 18th 9:18am EDT

Kelce was held to 58 yards on Thursday night against a stout Denver defense. Kelce caught four out of five targets. Early pressure on quarterback Alex Smith that resulted in a pick six, seemed to force the Chiefs into relying more on their running game. Kelce did have one 29 yard reception, however very good over the top coverage by Denver kept it from being a huge play.

Fantasy Impact:

The results of this match up should not be that surprising. Denver obviously has an elite defense this year and had a great game plan to contain Kelce. With the inability to take the top off a defense with a deep passing game, Kelce is sharing intermediate targets with Jeremy Macklin who was targeted seven times compared to five for Kelce. Kelce will have some big games against lesser teams. Expectations have to be tempered a bit after the huge game he had in the season opener.
