EJ Manuel erratic in loss

by Mike Mahern | Sun, Oct 25th 1:48pm EDT

Making his second start of the season in relief of injured starter Tyrod Taylor, Buffalo Bills QB EJ Manuel had an uneven performance in his team's week 7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Manuel showed flashes of competence, completing 24 of his 42 passes for 298 yards and two touchdowns, adding 38 yards rushing on 8 attempts. Unfortunately, he alternated those flashes with his trademark indecisiveness and poor decision making. He frequently held on to the ball too long in the pocket and failed to secure possession, as evidenced by his two interceptions and two fumbles (one lost).

Fantasy Impact:

While it hasn't been pretty to watch at times, Manuel has actually put up two weeks of better than expected fantasy scoring. That said, most expect Taylor to return to action following the team's week 8 bye, and Manuel hasn't done nearly enough to earn the full time job. He is not worth rostering in fantasy unless Taylor's injury status worsens, and even then he's probably only worth using in an absolute emergency situation.
