Knile Davis totals 43 yards and fumbles in playoff loss to Patriots

by Brad Richter | Sun, Jan 17th 11:02am EST

Davis served as the backup running back for the Chiefs on Saturday with Spencer Ware active but not healthy enough to play. Davis carried the ball six times for 30 yards and caught two passes for 13 yards. Davis had a costly fumble on the Chiefs first drive of the second half in New England territory with the Chiefs trailing 14-6. The Chiefs went on to lose 27-20 to end their playoff run.

Fantasy Impact:

It was a difficult season for Davis, who started the season as the primary backup running back and handcuff to starter Jamaal Charles. By Week 6 when Charles suffered a season-ending injury, it was fellow running back Charcandrick West who became the primary running back after passing Davis on the depth chart. Davis was also passed on the depth chart by Spencer Ware when West was forced to miss a couple of games during the season. Davis ended the season with only 28 carries for 72 yards and one touchdown. Davis is still under contract for the 2016 season, but with Charles likely back and West and Ware passing him on the depth chart this season the Chiefs may explore trade options for Davis this offseason. A change of scenery might be what Davis needs.
