Kirk Cousins could play 2016 season without extension

It appears that the Washington Redskins are prepared to let Kirk Cousins play the 2016 season under his franchise tag deal. Although the two sides are expected to engage in long-term contract extension negotiations before the start of the regular season, Redskins' GM Scot McCloughan told Bleacher Report that the organization is "comfortable letting the quarterback play out the year under that franchise number." Fantasy Impact:

Kirk Cousins could cash in with his new contract, whenever that may come about. Cousins broke out in 2015 setting franchise records in multiple passing categories, including single season completions and yardage. He finished the year with 4,166 yards, 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, including seven 300 yards passing games. Cousins is a potential fantasy QB1 heading into 2016.
