New deal on the horizon for Alshon Jeffery

by Anthony Cervino | Wed, Apr 27th 3:22pm EDT

Chicago Bears GM Ryan Pace told the media that the team is currently working toward a long-term deal with Alshon Jeffery. The star wide receiver is set to play the 2016 season under the franchise tag, but is a no-show at voluntary workouts. Jeffery's absence is said to have nothing to do with his contract stays, but to avoid a soft-tissue injury that plagued him during the 2015 campaign. (Around the NFL)

Fantasy Impact:

Alshon Jeffery is in line for a long-term deal, but it's a matter of when it will come about. The four-year veteran missed seven games in 2015 due to a soft-tissue injury, but still accounted for 54 receptions, 804 yards and four touchdowns. If healthy for the duration of the upcoming season, Jeffery could finish in the top 10 at his position in fantasy points and should be viewed as a mid-range WR1 across all scoring systems.
