Baltimore Ravens waived rookie WR Cam Worthy

Baltimore Ravens have decided to waive rookie wide receiver Cam Worthy on Wednesday and sign former Carolina Panther's safety Tom Nelson. Worthy injured his right foot during the OTA's in June.

Fantasy Impact

Worthy played college football at East Carolina and 55 receptions for 1,016 yards with four touchdowns last season (ESPN). According to NFL.com, he lacks the quickness and athleticism to be a top ranking WR. The Ravens are deep in the WR department so he should not be missed.

Cam Worthy placed on PUP list

Baltimore Ravens rookie wide receiver Cam Worthy was placed on physically unable to perform (PUP) list on Wednesday, according to Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun. The Ravens still have an abundance of receiver talent such as Kamar Aiken, Steve Smith, Sr., Marlon Brown, Michael Campanaro and rookie Breshad Perriman.

Fantasy Impact

Worthy suffered a Jones foot fracture in Medal of Honor Bowl game in January and could not work out at the NFL combine or for any team. He was picked up as a free agent from East Carolina and finished second with 55 receptions for 1,016 yards and four touchdowns. A solid receiver with excellent stats that can become a reliable target for Flacco if he can remain healthy.

Baltimore Ravens sign WR Cam Worthy to three-year deal

Baltimore Ravens signed undrafted free agent Cam Worthy to a three-year contract, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun. Worthy did not participate in the NFL combine and was recently cleared to participate in football activities after suffering a foot fracture in practice at the Medal of Honor all-star game.

Fantasy Impact

Worthy played at East Carolina where he posted a career 66 catches for 1,181 yards and five touchdowns and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds. Wilson reported Worthy getting tested at his school and recorded a 43-inch vertical leap, a 10-9 broad jump and a 335-pound bench press. With his strength and quick speed, he could compete for second string on the depth chart with WR Jeremy Butler or perhaps getting some starting time later this season.
