#44 vs. TEN

Cecil Shorts tied rookie receiver Allen Hurns with a team-high 10 targets Sunday but finished with only two catches for 3 yards.

Fantasy Impact: Shorts was expected to be a leader for a young Jaguars team, but has disappointed those who drafted him and should not be trusted in your lineup. Shorts has just one touchdown in 10 games this season.

Fantasy Impact: Shorts has been dealing with an illness this week, but is ready to play. However, his fantasy impact this year has been minimal.

With the fantasy playoffs quickly approaching (most leagues' playoffs are some combination of Weeks 14, 15, and 16), we analyze each player's matchup during the fantasy playoffs to help you take home your fantasy title. Now is the time to maximize your roster to take advantage of the best matchups during the playoffs. (Source: FantasyPros)

Fantasy Impact: Shorts has some very tasty matchups going forward, starting with a favorable matchup in Week 13 vs. the NYG porous defense. Once the playoffs begin, he faces three teams with bad secondaries (Wk 14 vs HOU, Wk 15 @BAL, Wk 16 vs TEN). With the Texans and Ravens particularly generous in giving up fantasy points to WRs, and Allen Robinson's absence creating more opportunities for targets, consider Shorts as a solid WR3/FLEX play going forward. Shorts has more value in PPR formats, as he tends to catch a heavy volume of passes, but often has trouble finding the endzone.

Fantasy Impact: Very disappointing day for Shorts fantasy owners. Shorts appeared to have an advantageous matchup (starting CB Greg Toler was out with a concussion), but Jacksonville did not push the ball downfield, instead focusing on short passes to RBs. Shorts should bounce back in Week 13 against a depleted NYG secondary.

Colts LCB Greg Toler (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 12.

Fantasy Impact: Cecil Shorts was expected to match up with Toler, but now will match up with backup Josh Gordy, who has struggled in pass coverage this season. Look for Shorts to receive plenty of targets Sunday, particularly in Allen Robinson's absence. Consider Shorts as a solid flex play in standard leagues and a low-end WR2 in PPR formats.

Jaguars receiver Cecil Shorts sat out today’s practice with hamstring tightness but anticipates playing Sunday against Dallas. Shorts has been out periodicially with hamstring issues since the start of training camp. The issue has also cost him three regular season games. (Source: Florida Times-Union)

Fantasy Impact: Although Shorts is confident he will play this looks like a game-time decision. If he can't go, Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns would likely start and play most of the snaps for the Jaguars. Marqise Lee returned to practice today, but will likely be limited.

By Clinton Ho, Jaguars Correspondent, Mon, Oct 13th 8:12pm EDT

Cecil Shorts finished Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans with 103 yards on 10 receptions. He had a team-high in both receptions and targets (10-of-16). He lined up ahead of Allen Hurns and Marqise Lee, but a key fumble in the fourth quarter put a damper on an otherwise productive day after returning from a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Impact: Shorts can be a solid WR3 if his hamstring holds up. The Jaguars will be forced to throw all season and if Shorts can stay on the field, he'll be the benefactor with rookie QB Blake Bortles looking for a veteran receiver to depend on.

Cecil Shorts (left hamstring) returned to practice for the first time since being injured Sept. 28 at San Diego and was a full participant. “We need to see him stack it up now but he made it through the full practice so that’s a good sign,” coach Gus Bradley said. (Source: Florida-Times Union)

Fantasy Impact: The Jaguars will evaluate how he responds on Friday before declaring his playing status. If Shorts is able to play it will likely be in a limited role so don't count on him this week.

Shorts, who has been out since the third quarter of the Sept. 28 loss at San Diego, didn’t sound optimistic about being available for Sunday’s game at Tennessee. (Source: Florida-Times Union)

Fantasy Impact: Shorts, who classified himself as "week-to-week" with the hamstring injury, is only worth a roster spot in deeper leagues.

Fantasy Impact: With Marqise Lee (hamstring) also out, rookies Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns will start for the Jaguars in a favorable matchup. Shorts has become a headache for owners with nagging injuries and is only worth a roster spot in deeper leagues.

Cecil Shorts will return from his hamstring injury and start for the Jaguars today against the Colts. (Source: Jaguars.com)

Fantasy Impact: Shorts missed the first 2 weeks with a hamstring injury, but his return is timely as Marqise Lee is out today with a hamstring injury of his own. Shorts will likely be targeted often as the Jaguars have not had any success running the ball and the matchup today against the Colts should be a shootout.

Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts is officially listed as doubtful for the Jags' Week 2 match-up against the Eagles. (Source: Hays Carlyon on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Cecil Shorts injured his hamstring a little over a week ago in practice which caused him to miss Week 1. While many thought Shorts would at least attempt to test his injured hammy today, he ended up not practicing at all. Don't look for Shorts to be suited up in Week 2. As of right now, Shorts' prospects of playing in the immediate future seem very slim.

Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts (hamstring) did not have a setback in practice on Wednesday, but he will not practice today (Thursday). (Source: Hays Carlyon on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Cecil Shorts sat out Week 1 with a hamstring injury and has been plagued by lower-extremity injuries for the past few months. The Jags' will probably see if he can practice in any capacity on Friday, but he should still be considered highly questionable for Sunday when Jacksonville plays Washington. In the meantime, Shorts' fantasy owners need to continue to look elsewhere until he can show some sort of resemblance of health.

Receiver Cecil Shorts (hamstring) will run tomorrow and that will determine his status for the rest of the week. (Source: Jacksonville.com)

Fantasy Impact: Shorts is in a contract season and was expected to be the leader of a young wide receiver group for the Jaguars, but is once again dealing with an injury. He should be eager to get back on field and prove he is worthy of a new contract. He is likely to be a game time decision so you will want to keep an eye on his status this week.

Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts (hamstring) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's game in Philadelphia. (Source: John Oehser on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: This is obviously not good news for Shorts who felt "tightness" in his hamstring in practice on Thursday. He missed significant time in training camp and the preseason with a sore hamstring, and will now miss the season opener with a separate hamstring issue. Rookie wide receivers Marqise Lee, Allen Hurns, and Allen Robinson will now likely be the Jags' starting trio on Sunday with Mike Brown getting some looks as well. Hopefully Shorts just misses Week 1, but we do not have a timeframe yet for his return.

Fantasy Impact: Cecil Shorts' hamstring "tightened up" on him in practice on Thursday while he was running. Unfortunately, this is the second hamstring issue Shorts has suffered inside of the last month and a half. There is still a chance Cecil Shorts plays against the Eagles, but if you were planning to start him in any of your leagues, it may be wise to come up with an alternate plan before Sunday. Keep monitoring the situation closely.

Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts felt some tightness in his hamstring today in practice. As a precaution, the team "shut him down" for the rest of practice. (Source: Mark Long - Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Multiple reports out of Jags' camp today indicated that Cecil Shorts felt some tightness in his hamstring "right as he ran." However, HC Gus Bradley said after practice, "he doesn't think Shorts' hamstring is anything serious." Cecil Shorts missed July 26th - August 16th with a sore hamstring and also missed some of OTAs with a calf injury. The team has a history with being very careful with injuries of Shorts' nature, but with his recent hamstring/calf injuries, any small flair-up should not be discredited. Cecil Shorts is the Jaguars number one wide receiver heading in to the season and could winding up being a really nice value in fantasy, provided he stays healthy. Hopefully Shorts' hamstring is "no big deal" and he'll be close to 100% come Sunday.

Jaguars receiver Cecil Shorts will play about 15 plays in his preseason debut tonight against the Lions, coach Gus Bradley told the Florida Times-Union. Shorts' right hamstring injury has kept him sidelined since the opening day of training camp. (Source: Florida-Times Union)

Fantasy Impact: Even in a limited role, its a good sign that Shorts is able to get on the field tonight to work off some rust and build some chemistry with Chad Henne & Blake Bortles. With the injury that has kept him out of action and the uncertainty of the QB position for the Jaguars, Shorts ADP has fallen to the later rounds of drafts. The 26 year old receiver is entering a contract year and is clearly the No. 1 wide receiver in Jacksonville so I would target him in the 10th or 11th round as a great value pick.

Cecil Shorts participated in 11-on-11 drills with the first team offense on Sunday after missing a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury. (Source: Michael DiRocco - ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Cecil Shorts returning to practice is a welcome sign for Jaguars fans and fantasy owners alike. Shorts' hamstring injury has bogged down his ADP and he's currently going in the 11th round. His ADP should rise once he becomes a regular participant in practice and the news surrounding him stays positive. He could be a really nice value given his cheap cost; Shorts is ranked as FantasyPros consensus WR39.

Cecil Shorts will miss the Jaguars second preseason game against the Bears next Thursday. (Source: Michael DiRocco - ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: This shouldn't come as much of a surprise to Jags fans or Cecil Shorts owners. The team has made it very clear that they wanted to take it slow with Cecil's return. They need him to be 100% healthy for the season. There is still no timetable for his return.

Cecil Shorts -- the only proven receiver on the roster -- is going to be out for at least two weeks with a grade two right hamstring strain. It’s the latest in a string of injuries that have cost the fourth-year player 11 games in his first three seasons. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Second-round picks Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson are already working with the first unit at training camp and both have a great opportunity to start on opening day. With Shorts' injury history, either Lee or Robinson could quickly become Bortles go-to receiver.
