Connor Halliday
QB -
2024 Outlook
Connor Halliday will come out of his short lived retirement as he tries out for the Kansas City Chiefs. Halliday was scheduled to be an undrafted free agent with the Redskins before suddenly opting to retire instead. After "losing his love for the game", it appears that he is getting cold feet already.
Fantasy Impact
Don't expect him to make a push for active roster. But if signed, he could certainly be a practice squad candidate. After setting records at Washington State University with 4,597 yards and 34 touchdowns in a single season, he's worth a tryout to say the least.
The Washington Redskins signed Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday to an undrafted free agent deal on Saturday night.
Fantasy Impact
Halliday is going to have to beat out Kirk Cousins or Colt McCoy is he wants to get a roster spot, but the Redskins did take a long look at him and both coach Jay Gruden and general manager Scot McCloughan should feel comfortable about this signing. They're getting a tough quarterback who can make all the throws required of an NFL passer, but he does have decision making and accuracy issues. His most likely destination is the practice squad.
Former Washington State Cougar QB Connor Halliday will accept an invitation to the NFL combine, but will not work out.
Fantasy Impact
Jones didn't specifically say that Halliday declined to work out due to the fact he's rehabbing a very grisly broken ankle suffered in November, but that seems to be the case. Halliday was on pace to break national passing records before being lost for the season, and has a wealth of starting experience. However, he lacks big-time arm strength and had his stats inflated in Mike Leach's Air-Raid offense. Due to the fact the QB draft-class is so shallow, Halliday may get a late look, but is eons away from fantasy relevance.
