Mark Daniels reports that it was "hard not to notice Danny Amendola. During the two practices, Jimmy Garoppolo got a chance to work on his rapport with Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman. With Brandon LaFell out due to a foot injury, Amendola was Tom Brady’s top target. The wide receiver took advantage of the situation, hauling in 15 passes from Brady — the most of anyone." Fantasy Impact: Amendola was the forgotten man on a Patriots' offense last season that featured monster seasons by Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman. Brandon LaFell also emerged as a go-to guy for Tom Brady during the majority of the 2014 campaign. If LaFell struggles upon his return or is slow to return to full strength this could be a big opportunity for Amendola to regain fantasy relevance in 2015. Amendola, played in all 16 games last season, hauling in 27 catches for 200 yards and 1 touchdown. He is currently the 106th ranked wide receiver in standard leagues. Still, monitor LaFell's progress for a possible late round steal.
The New England Patriots are showing interest in former Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline but it may come at the expense of releasing Danny Amendola. (Source: WEEI on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Although this is still a report, the fact of the Patriots are thinking of releasing Amendola to save money and replacing him with a cheaper option in Hartline seems very "Patriot" like. Brian Hartline would bring a steady outside presence the Patriots hoped they had in Amendola when he was first signed.
Danny Amendola had 5 catches for 81 yards while scoring 2 Touchdowns in the Patriots 35-31 victory over the Ravens.
Fantasy Impact: Amendola had by far his biggest game of the season pulling down 2 of his 5 receptions for Touchdowns. Capitalizing on Brady's quick short throw reads throughout the night, Amendola earned himself a spot into the game-plan on Saturday. The biggest play of the game was a late game trick play which saw Amendola pull in a 51-yard TD throw from Julian Edelman.
Danny Amendola caught 4 of his 7 targets for 24 yards today in the Patriots Week 17 loss against the Bills.
Fantasy Impact: Amendola did not take full advantage of Edelman and Gronkowski sidelined in Week 17. Coming off of an 8 catch Week 16, Amendola was anticipated to see similar results against the Bills.
Danny Amendola caught eight passes for 63 yards on a team high 11 targets in Sunday's 17-16 win over the Jets. (Source: ESPN)
Fantasy Impact: Owners had to double check the uniform number on Amendola Sunday, to make sure it was #80 and not #11 they were watching. Amendola filled the Edelman role on Sunday very nicely catching 8 passes on a team high 11 targets from Tom Brady. Amendola will go back to his old role behind Edelman upon his return.
Danny Amendola caught 3 passes on Sunday's match-up with the Chargers for only 7 yards. (Source: ESPN)
Fantasy Impact: Amendola matched his highest catch total for the season with 3 catches but only amassed 7 yards. Amendola continues to be a non-factor with the emergence of LaFell in the Patriot offense.
Patriots WR DAnny Amendola hauled in zero catches on one target in the team's Week 2 match-up against the Vikings.
Fantasy Impact: In a crowded receiving corps, Amendola clearly hasn't earned enough of Tom Brady's trust to be fantasy relevant. He's worth keeping an eye on in case another Pat's WR goes down with an injury.
Patriot's WR Danny Amendola brought down 3-of-5 targets for 16 yards in the Patriots' Week 1 game against the Dolphins.
Fantasy Impact: Amendola is a starter, but after such a bad day for the offense, it's hard to say how much fantasy value he will hold. We'll see how things play out, but for the time being, he's playing behind Julian Edelman, and is a WR4 at best.
The Patriot's WR caught one pass for nine yards in Friday's preseason game against the Eagles.
Fantasy Impact: Julian Edelman remains solidly ahead of Amendola in the slot, so it's going to be tough for him to find playing time in the Patriot's normal two-wide sets. We will continue to monitor the situation, but without any significant presence on the field, his fantasy-relevancy is going to be limited.
