Junior Galette tears Achilles working out

Washington Redskins LB Junior Galette (Achilles) tore his right Achilles tendon working out and will miss the entire 2016 season according to NFL Network's Rand Getlin.

Fantasy Impact

In 2015, Junior Galette suffered a torn left Achilles tendon and missed the entire season as a result. A year later, the hard-lucked linebacker suffered the same injury to the opposite leg and will once again be sidelined for the entire campaign. Galette has not played a meaningful down in the NFL since 2014 with the Saints and his career could be in jeopardy going forward.

Redskins re-sign Junior Galette to one-year deal

The Washington Redskins and LB Junior Galette agreed to terms on a one-year deal worth up to $4.1 million according to Around the NFL.

Fantasy Impact

Junior Galette missed the entire 2015 season due to a torn Achilles tendon, but takes another stride to returning to the gridiron by re-signing with his former team, the Washington Redskins. Galette, who spent the majority of his career in New Orleans signed with the Redskins last summer, but tore his Achilles during practice and never took the field during a regular-season game with his new team. Following a slew of off-the-field incidents, and the injury, Galette is set to finally make his Redskins debut in 2016, barring any further setbacks that is.

Washington loses OLB Junior Galette for the season

The team's fear was confirmed, after OLB Junior Galette went down during Wednesday's practice with a torn Achilles. It's an extremely tough blow to Galette, who signed a one-year deal with the team, and was hoping to earn a better contract with his level of play this year.

Fantasy Impact

DC Joe Barry will now have to rely on Trent Murphy and Preston Smith to step up and provide consistent results for the defense. IDP'ers should look elsewhere to fill any voids on rosters.

Junior Galette signs one-year deal with Redskins

The Redskins have signed linebacker Junior Galette to a one-year, $745,000 deal.

Fantasy Impact

After being arrested in January for domestic violence, the Saints released Galette. He will be a participant in the Redskins' Saturday practice. Galette has been an uncaged animal the last two seasons, piling up 22 sacks and 126 combined sacks, hits and hurries. The 27-year-old is easily one of the league's best pass rushers and makes the Redskins a sneaky D/ST for fantasy purposes on a matchup-by-matchup basis.

Junior Galette visits Redskins on Thursday

Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com reports that Junior Galette is meeting with Redskins officials just five days after getting released by the New Orleans Saints after multiple off-the-field incidents surfaced this offseason. Rosenthal reports that this move "would give the Redskins another pure pass rusher to pair with Ryan Kerrigan, effectively replacing Brian Orakpo. 2014 second round pick Trent Murphy was expected to battle 2015 second rounder Preston Smith for the starting job across from Kerrigan. Galette would surely jump to the front of that depth chart after averaging 11 sacks, 12.5 QB hits and 42.5 hurries the last two seasons according to ProFootballFocus."

Fantasy Impact

This is only relevant if he signs with Washington, but if he does, the Redskins front seven becomes instantly better. The Redskins' D/ST unit finished 30th out of 32 teams in terms of fantasy points in 2014. Galette and his 10 sacks, ranked 58th among linebackers and 138th overall in IDP would surely help the Redskins defense.
