Ryan Clark is expected to retire after this season

The Redskins and S Ryan Clark himself expect that Clark will be retiring after this season. Clark recently said, "For me, there's no next year." He elaborated on that, "I didn't think I was going to play this long, so I'm definitely not thinking I'm going to play next year."

Fantasy Impact

A 35-year old safety, who plays in a league where younger and faster is all that coaches and general managers desire, knows when it's time to hang up the cleats and move on. Clark was never a big playmaker or an athletic freak, but was always commended for his locker-room leadership, toughness, and his great pre-snap communication. Clark probably has a nice ESPN NFL analyst job waiting for him upon his retirement. We wish him the best of luck on whatever he chooses to do after football.

Ryan Clark questionable for Week 6

Redskins S Ryan Clark is questionable with an ankle injury for the team's Week 6 matchup against Arizona. Clark did not practice on Friday. If Clark doesn't play, Trenton Robinson or Jamarca Sanford would likely start in his place.

Fantasy Impact

Because Clark is a late start on Sunday, IDP owners may want to opt for a safer pick. If you have another starting DB option its time to start weighing your options.

Clark records 14 tackles in Week 4

Redskins S Ryan Clark saw plenty of action in Thursday night's loss to the Giants, recording 14 tackles (seven solo).

Fantasy Impact

Clark continues to produce and makes a quality bye week starter/depth player in IDP leagues. Clark should be on the field quite a bit in Week 5 as the Redskins face the powerful Seahawks offense.

Clark records five tackles in Week 3

Redskins S Ryan Clark recorded five tackles (two solo) in Washington's Week 3 loss to Philadelphia. Clark had some vicious hits and continues to look very spry for a soon-to-be 35 year old safety.

Fantasy Impact

Clark is a quality reserve in IDP play, though he may not have the upside you're looking for in dynasty play. Continue to use Clark as you normally would.

Clark impresses with tackling

Redskins S Ryan Clark has had a good camp and preseason thus far. His steady tackling is an upgrade for the team and has been noticed by coaches. HC Jay Gruden says that Clark is "one of the greatest tacklers at the safety position in this league."

Fantasy Impact

Clark tracked down Browns QB Johnny Manziel for a loss in Monday night's win. His speed on the play was a bit of a revelation for a 34-year old player in his second tour with the team. In redraft IDP leagues, Clark is worth a late round pick.
