Redskins coach Jay Gruden announced on Saturday that Silas Redd will miss the 2015 season with a torn MCL and ACL in his right knee. He suffered tje injury during Friday's preseason game.

He'll be placed on injured reserve, which will end his season. Redd is under contract through 2016 after coming on to the team last year as an undrafted free agent.

Redskins' beat writer Rich Tandler thinks that Silas Redd currently has the best chance at being the Redskins' third down back.

According to Tandler, the coaches really love his work ethic and skill set. Redd, an undrafted free agent last season, is considered by the team to be their best receiving back. The biggest factor in his ability to secure the third down role, though, will be how well he can pass block.

Both Redskins' buses collided with each other on the way to TCF Bank Stadium in Minnesota on Sunday morning. Redd was the only one to sustain an injury from the crash, but he should probably be back in action for the next game.

Redskins backup RB Silas Redd, Jr., had a nice effort in mop up duty during the team's Week 2 rout of Jacksonville. Redd carried eight times for 41 yards and a score late in the fourth quarter and showed excellent power and change of direction in doing so.

Fantasy Impact

Barring an injury to starter Alfred Morris, Redd shouldn't factor in to your immediate plans. However, his performances in the preseason and in Week 2 are a good indication that he is a player with potential and worth tracking throughout the season.
