The Cowboys met with Elliott and his agent. While a deal has not been finalized yet, the former pro-bowler may be returning to the team that drafted him. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: The Cowboys are in desperate need of RB depth. As it currently stands, their top two options are Royce Freeman and Rico Dowdle. While it is presumed that they'll address the position in the upcoming NFL draft, Elliott's veteran presence can certainly help the Cowboys.

Dare Ogunbowale is signing a one-year deal with the Texans. The 29-year-old RB spent the past two seasons in Houston. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Rashaad Penny was in Seattle yesterday for a free agent visit. Penny was selected 27th overall by the Seahawks in the 2018 NFL Draft. (Source: Ari Meirov on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Penny is coming off a wildly disappointing season in Philadelphia where he totalled 11 carries for 33 yards across 3 games played. At this point in his career, it's hard to envision him getting consistent usage in any offence. His arrival will not impact the likes of Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet.

J.K. Dobbins is expected to sign with the Los Angeles Chargers. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Dobbins suffered a torn Achilles at the start of the 2023 season that left him with a limited market in free agency, but now he is expected to sign with the Chargers. He will reunite with his former offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who helped him find stretches of success in Baltimore. His fantasy value will largely hinge on how well his recovery goes this offseason, but the starting spot is ripe for the taking with Gus Edwards being the only other notably RB on the roster currently.

The Cowboys have signed Royce Freeman to a one-year contract. (Source: Todd Archer on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Freeman will join a Cowboys’ backfield that does not have a clear cut starter. The veteran tallied 319 yards and two touchdowns on 77 carries with the Rams last season. Fantasy managers should expect Freeman to compete for the starting job in training camp.

Nick Chubb reworked his contract to remain with the team in 2024. The four-time pro-bowler missed the majority of the 2023-2024 season after suffering a major knee injury in Week 2. (Source: NFL.com )

Fantasy Impact: It will be challenging to assess Nick Chubb's fantasy outlook until we are able to see him on an NFL field again. Many are wondering whether he will return with the same athleticism and elusiveness that made him an elite fantasy option over the years. Chubb has a long injury history and his NFL future is somewhat in question heading into this offseason. Jerome Ford emerged as a reliable asset for many managers' teams last season. He will be a name to monitor if Chubb's recovery takes longer than initially expected.

Fantasy Impact: Taylor is 25 and averaged four yards a carry on limited snaps over three years in Green Bay. He played a career-high 226 offensive snaps in 2023 and saw 32 carries and 17 targets. He can provide further depth behind the established 1-2 hierarchy of Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell in S.F.

RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire has agreed to terms on a one-year deal to return to the Chiefs. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: CEH will return to the team that drafted him and is expected to back up Isiah Pacheco. The former first-round pick tallied 223 rushing yards and one touchdown on 70 carries last season. Barring an injury to Pacheco, fantasy managers should consider CEH a handcuff in 2024.

Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy noted that getting Rico Dowdle back was "big for the team." (Source: Mike Garafolo on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: McCarthy also added that the team is not done with the room this offseason. After not landing a running back in free agency, the Cowboys figure to be one of the first teams to address the running back position during the NFL Draft next month.

Chargers GM Joe Hortiz labeled Gus Edwards as a workhorse. (Source: Chargers.com)

Fantasy Impact: "I think specifically with Gus, I've seen him deal with the adversity of the [ACL] injury two years ago and come back from it," Hortiz said. "Grind, be physical, continue to play the same brand of football he's always played. Really excited to have him. He's the bell cow, the goal line [guy], the finisher." Hortiz added the Chargers want to play a more physical style of football on both sides of the ball and he helps them do that. It will be worth monitoring to see what the Chargers do at the running back position in the NFL Draft next month.

Alexander Mattison is signing with the Las Vegas Raiders after visiting with the team. (Source: Jordan Schultz on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: It’s been quite the journey for Mattison, who started his career as the backup for Dalvin Cook then earned the starting job for the Vikings in 2023 before being released in 2024. His main competition for touches as of now is from Zamir White, who showed great ability at the end of 2023 while filling in for former Raider Josh Jacobs. Things could change during the draft, so fantasy managers should keep close tabs on this situation.
