I keep moving him up; his floor is higher than that of several other RBs on this tier.
Despite his vast ability, 49ers' offense has a way of making him vanish at times.

Derek Lofland
Fantasy Football Maniax
Ellington showed a ton of potential in his rookie season, finishing with 1,023 career carries and four touchdowns. Ellington should be poised to claim the starting job in 2014 with veteran RB Rashard Mendenhall retiring from the NFL.
Davis had a monster rebound season with 52 receptions for 850 yards and 13 receiving touchdowns. He has a great chemistry with QB Colin Kaepernick and with Davis being only 30 years old, he should have a few more monster seasons in him.

Sablich Brothers
The NY Times
Cards will build offense around him, but his size will keep him from true workhorse duties.
Standout 2013 re-establishes himself as a top 5 TE option in fantasy.

Raju Byfield
Win My Fantasy League
Andre Ellington should get all of the work he can handle after impressing everyone with his 5.5 yards per carry and 39 receptions on limited snaps.
Vernon Davis is always a top five threat and is his teams top vertical option due to the fact that he is faster than Crabtree, Boldin and Johnson, his teams top three wideouts.

James Hatfield
Hatty Waiver Wire Guru
Ellington has awesome upside and has PPR upside as well. He could potentially become the lead back in Arizona and be drafted very late in many leagues this year.
Double digit TD's last year keep Davis a safe option for 2014.

Tozzi Brothers
Legion Report
HC Bruce Arians has shouted his plans for Ellington from the rooftops. Some of the terms used by Arians were workhouse, feature back, 25-30 touches per game, etc. In 2013, the Cardinals averaged 20.0 PPG in Weeks 1-8 before jumping the offensive assault to 27.3 PPG in Weeks 9-17. The offensive trend is relative to the entire team becoming more comfortable with Arians’ approach and we expect the production to carry into 2014. Expect Ellington to be heavily involved in both the passing attack and running game for the Cardinals this season. 25-30 touches per game is a bit advantageous and we don’t expect him to be there. However, the 275-300 touch mark on the season isn’t completely out of line for Ellington. In PPR Leagues, Ellington will be a stud. In other leagues, we consider him a solid RB2.
Are you YEARNIN’ for VERNON? VD-Boy molli-wopped his way thru 2013, grabbing 13 TDs and 850 Receiving Yards. Davis only went 4 Games last season without scoring a TD. The San Francisco Chronicle recently reported that since 2011, the 49ers have not ranked any higher than 31st in the NFL in Passing Attempts. Additionally, Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman expressed that they could stray away a bit from their ground-pounding roots. Davis caught 52 Receptions last year, which accounted for 21% of Colin Kaepernick‘s 243 Completions. The idea that Davis will repeat at 13 TDs is a pipe-dream. Add a healthy Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin, Stevie Johnson and Brandon Lloyd into the mix and we see an obvious reduction in production. Follow the alliteration when thinking Davis in 2014. Yearnin’ for Vernon = Reduction in Production!

Jeff Boggis
Fantasy Football Empire
3 rushing TDs and 1 receiving TD in his rookie season. Starting to grow on me and I would be happy to have him as my RB2 this season.

Matthew Hill
Fantasy Team Advice
The Cardinals seem committed to getting the ball into Ellington's hands. If Ellington averages 20 touches per game and comes close to his gaudy 2013 yards-per-carry average of 5.5, he would offer top-ten upside at a reasonable ADP.

Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
AZ says he'll get 25-30 touches per game. That's laughable, but he's in for a monster load.
Davis won't hit 13 TDs again now that Crabtree is back and Stevie is in town.

Smitty
Fantasy Football Starters
Here is your breakout RB5 if there is one that ranks outside of the top 25 overall fantasy players. Yes, he has that kind of ceiling! Just don't reach for him, as risk is built into the investment if you draft him near his ADP (which is steal territory, and often outside of 30 overall).

Tom Schriner
FFLockerRoom
Now that Rashard Mendenhall is retiring, that leaves the electric Ellington to hopefully take the reigns as the starter. He probably won't get more than 60% of the work but that will be plenty for him to have some really nice games.
It seems like Vernon Davis became lost in the 49ers offense throughout multiple games in the 2013 season. He only grabbed 52 passes on the season, but when he did get the ball, he made some major damage. With 850 yards and 13 scores with such a low reception total, there is major room for an explosion in his numbers as the 49ers focus more on the passing game in 2014.

Jon Collins
Fantasy Sports LR

No change in talent, and the 49ers are suggesting they'll pass more, but, with a presumed upgrade in receiving corps (healthy Crabtree, for one) you'd have to assume his overall target load comes down on a team that didn't throw much at all in 2013

Brandon Funston
Yahoo! Sports
Picked up 80 YFS while playing thru foot injury in W1, an ailment that's likely to be a nagging situation for weeks
2 TDs in W1 gives him 15 in past 16 reg-season games

Chet Gresham
The Fake Football
Ellington is the lead back in a pass first offense, but he's also a very capable pass catcher. He won't be pushing the pile over from one-yard out, but he will have plenty of looks in space and his ability puts his upside out of sight.
With Michael Crabtree back Davis will have a lot of trouble living up to last season's stats. The 49ers want to run the ball and play good defense and that often leaved Davis the odd man out.

Evan Silva
Rotoworld
Boom-or-bust RB2. I'll pass at his 3rd-round ADP.
Expect regression in every statistic this season.
