The Bills are going to need Spiller to play a lot and be given the ball a lot to have anywhere close to a chance in this one.

Jeff Boggis
Fantasy Football Empire

Eddy Lacy (GB at SF) - San Francisco gave up the 2nd fewest fantasy points to Running Backs last season. Lacy is going to have a big season for Green Bay, but just not in week in the first 5 weeks of the season. In week 2, Washington gave up the 9th fewest fantasy points to Running Backs last season. In week 3, Cincinnati gave up the 13th fewest fantasy points to Running Backs last season. After a week 4 bye week, in week 5, Detroit gave up the 12th fewest fantasy points to Running Back...

Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Bills are starting a rookie undrafted QB so you know Spiller will get his.
49ers are elite against run and he's on the road, but Lacy does run hard.

Taylor Smith
NFL Soup
Spiller is finally established as "the guy" for the Bills, and he won't be splitting carries with the elderly Fred Jackson anymore. However, there's still a chance Jackson could vulture a few touchdowns.
The Pack's running back situation is essentially a toss-up at this point, but Lacy clearly has value in short-yardage/goal-line situations.

Muntradamus
Beast Dome
Spiller is the new LeSean McCoy. The only problem is, he plays for the Bills who are led by Kevin Kolb. Ryan Fitzpatrick at least had a respectable arm, Kolb has to make quick throws as he is worried about getting crushed. As much as we all know C.J. can turn on the 70 Yard TD consistently, we also know the Bills are in for a very long season. Fred Jackson should be in the mix as well as he is one of the Captains on that team.
Lacy has a good chance to score 10+ TDs if he plays like a capable RB. His competition is DuJuan Harris and Jonathan Franklin. While the Packers plan on using Franklin a lot in the Punt Return game, you can expect Lacy to be the workhorse RB. The Packers will score a lot of points, Lacy will get his Redzone carries. Just make sure Franklin does not look too good this Preseason.

Chet Gresham
The Fake Football
Last season Spiller barely saw any touches against the Patriots, but did finish the two games against them with 23 touches for 169 yards. The good news this year is he should be in line for that many touches in a single game. I'd much prefer EJ Manuel at QB for Spiller's value though.
I'm a big fan of Lacy this season and think he has the ability to put up numbers on any defense as long as they are worried about Rodgers and company beating them down field. But of course this is San Francisco at home against a rookie on the road. Lacy's touches may be limited if they can't get him going early, but I'm still starting him unless you are just stacked.

Derek Lofland
Fantasy Football Maniax
This game could become ugly with Jeff Tuel likely to start at quarterback, but Spiller is their big weapon on offense, he can be involved in the passing game if the score is out of hand and the Bills are not likely to have Tuel throw the ball 60 times. I think Spiller sees enough touches to have a big impact this week.
Lacy has looked like a beast in preseason and that 49ers will not be able to overload the box with all of the weapons the Packers have in the passing game. I think Lacy is a low end flex play though against the 49ers 3rd ranked fantasy running back defense from a year ago. I would seek other options if possible.

Staff Rankings
Fantasy Football Freaks
Tough matchup to start the season vs New England but I expect Spiller to keep things rolling from his solid 2012 season.
Pro: He gets the starting gig with DuJuan Harris on IR. Con: Tough schedule, starting with the nearly impenetrable 49ers.

Tozzi Brothers
Legion Report
New Buffalo Head Coach - Doug Marrone ran the ball 40 times per game at Syracuse. Marrone is looking to carry that same offense into the tundra of Buffalo. If Spiller can manage to carry the entire load for a full season, look for around 300+ carries and 60 receptions. Again, if Spiller can remain healthy we do not doubt that he could be a Top 3 RB for 2013.
Playing next to Rodgers in the Shotgun - Huge year coming.

Should be a ppg monster; can he stay healthy?
GB finally has a run game with Lacy and Franklin
