Packers still aren't good enough on D and Kap is comfy at home.Romo is always a candidate for a big game at home, but Giants can have his # from time to time.
Staff Rankings
Fantasy Football Freaks
He averaged 26 points against the Giants in 2012. Look for a strong start in a divisional matchup.
Muntradamus
Beast Dome
Colin is Jamie Fox from Any Given Sunday. Nobody really likes him, but they all know he can dominate the game. With the #1 Selling 2013 NFL Jersey, the controversy over the Dolphins hat, to winning an Espy for best breakthrough athlete. He knows his time is now to win that Superbowl.Romo still has the second best WR duo in the league of Austin Miles and Dez Bryant, along with star TE Jason Witten. You put Tom Brady with that group, and Tom Brady is probably the #1 QB in 2013. But this is Tony Romo, and Romo will make bad throws and fail when you need him the most. The offense is going to try running the ball more this season, which they should. But Romo will still get that 300 Yard/2 TD game more often than not.
Derek Lofland
Fantasy Football Maniax
I do not think it will be possible for Kaepernick to duplicate the masterpiece he had in the Divisional Round when the 49ers gained 579 yards of offense against the Packers and not having Michael Crabtree will hurt, but the 49ers seem to have the Packers number and I expect Kaepernick to play well.Romo had 747 passing yards in 2 games against the Giants last year, so he figures to have a big yardage day in the opener. The question is will he throw 3 touchdowns and 1 pick like he did in New York last year or 1 touchdown and 4 picks like he did in Dallas last year.
Staff Rankings
RotoBaller
Probably won't rush for 180 yards again, but he's too talented for GB.Dez will torch the NYG secondary.
Raju Byfield
Win My Fantasy League
Should take major strides with additions of Boldin, Patton, CollieAdditions of Williams, Randle help solve depth issues, can keep going strong even if injuries at RB and WR strike; make no mistake Romo is still a high floor QB1
Jeff Boggis
Fantasy Sports Empire
Green Bay gave up the 19th fewest fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season with 16.4.New York Giants gave up the 10th most fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season with 18.5.
Taylor Smith
NFL Soup
He'll be missing his favorite weapon with Michael Crabtree sidelined indefinitely, but Kaep's combination of a cannon arm and insane speed make him a can't-miss fantasy prospect. It wouldn't be all that surprising to see him wind up as the highest-scoring player in fantasy this season. Then again, he doesn't have the longest body of work behind him, either.Romo put up massive numbers last year, as he was essentially tasked with getting the Cowboys out of big-time deficits all season long. If the offensive line play can improve over where it was in 2012 (low hurdle), Romo should be in for another big season.
Chet Gresham
The Fake Football
In the Divisional playoffs last season the Packers weren't ready for Kaepernick's read option and he completely destroyed them, rushing 16 times for 181 yards and two touchdowns while also passing for 263 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. They should be more prepared for it this time, but you would have thought they would have been prepared in a playoff game as well.Romo has always put up good fantasy numbers against the Giants. For his career he's averaging 269 yards passing and 2.7 touchdowns. Last year he averaged 372 yards passing and two touchdowns. He also threw a whole load of interceptions, but if he plays anything like last year’s season opener he's a top QB this week.
Jordan Tozzi
Legion Report
Like Cam Newton, we love the ability for the big runs and the rushing TDs. With the loss of Crabtree and lack of consistency at WR, we feel that Harbaugh will stick to the run game this season. Kaepernick is still a strong option at QB and I would be confident drafting him to any fantasy squad. Not the 10th best QB in the NFL, but on a fantasy perspective, there is no denying Romo’s ability to rack up points. Yes, he will burn you with games where he tosses 2-3 INTs, but Romo will also have games where he rolls up 300 yards and 3 TDs. The big play ability of Dez Bryant and Jason Witten gives Romo stable options from week to week. If you miss on the big boys, Romo is still considered lightly elite.
