$1,000 Beat The Expert Contest (Week 6)

If you like playing fantasy football, competing against top experts, and winning free cash, then there’s no excuse not to enter our Beat the Expert contest. To play, you simply have to select a lineup of players for this weekend’s games without going over the salary cap. It’s completely free to enter and there’s a $1,000 prize pool. You’ll also win $5 just for outscoring the expert’s team.

This week’s featured expert is Keith Goldner from numberFire, a site that uses analytics and predictive modeling to produce player projections. As the Chief Analyst, Keith is responsible for making sure these projections are accurate. So far he’s doing a great job; his site sits atop all other projection sources and is #11 overall in our accuracy rankings.

Keith has shared the algorithm’s player targets this week, based on the player salaries of our games partner, StarStreet. Think you can outsmart the machine? Take a minute to enter our contest now!

Week 6 Players to Target by Keith Goldner

At numberFire, we’re all about finding overvalued and undervalued players. Fantasy Football is about minimizing risk and exposing market inefficiency—buying low, selling high. Last week we were high on Marques Colston and Alex Smith, who finished as the top two scorers on the week. Based on our Week 6 projections, here are a few players that are underrated based on StarStreet salaries.

Ray Rice (RB, BAL) – Despite his hefty $13,881 salary, Ray Rice is projected as the No. 1 running back in Week 6, going up against a shaky Dallas run defense. Including the PPR format, Rice is projected to score 23.43 points, most among all players at any position. He has the most receptions among all running backs, save Darren Sproles (who is on bye this week) at 23. Fantasy Points per $1,000 (FP/$K): 1.69

Alex Smith (QB, SF) – The San Francisco Treat is turning into an actually viable starting fantasy quarterback. Last week, he threw for over 300 yards, 3 TDs and added 49 yards on the ground – a nice five-point bonus for those lucky few who started him. This week he faces a brutal Giants’ secondary; in fact, the Giants have allowed almost 44 points through the air so far this season that a league-average defense would prevent. FP/$K: 1.55

Matt Ryan (QB, ATL) – Our top projected QB in Week 6, Matt Ryan has been an absolute stud so far this year. With dominant weapons in Roddy White, Julio Jones, and Tony Gonzalez, Ryan has been the most efficient player in the league, leading an offense that has already scored 70 more points than a league-average offense would if put in similar situations. The Falcons play the Raiders on Sunday, a tasty matchup for any fantasy manager. FP/$K: 1.36

Victor Cruz (WR, NYG) – Cruz went off on Sunday, pulling in three touchdowns from Eli. As long as Hakeem Nicks is hampered by his knee and/or foot, Cruz will be a stud wideout in all formats. He has a tough matchup against the Niners this week, but based on his $12,050 salary, you will be getting a bargain for a receiver projected to score 20.78 points. FP/$K: 1.72

Scott Chandler (TE, BUF) – For a mere $6,396, you can purchase this week’s No. 7 projected tight end in Scott Chandler. Chandler already has 4 TDs on the year and has quickly evolved into Ryan Fitzpatrick’s favorite red zone target. If the Bills can get anywhere near the end zone against Arizona, expect Chandler to pay dividends. FP/$K: 1.61

I want to thank Keith for sharing his insights for week 6. Now it’s your turn to pick a lineup to compete for the free cash prizes.
