Week 6 was about redemption for players failing to live up to preseason expectations (sorry CJ2K owners, we’re not looking your way). The week’s #1 fantasy performer at each main position (QB: A. Rodgers, RB: S. Greene, WR: J. Nelson, TE: A. Gates) had all given fantasy owners some degree of fits heading into the weekend’s games. Fortunately, owners who stuck with each player were rewarded handsomely with production likely beyond their wildest expectations.
Of course, the fantasy experts also had a lot on the line this past week. Those who ranked the above players well would undoubtedly see a payoff in our accuracy competition. Anyone who didn’t missed a substantial opportunity to prop up their accuracy rating.
So which experts delivered the best picks in week 6? Below are the top 10 pundits for the week along with a snapshot of our updated accuracy standings for the season.

It was a great week of advice for Jody Smith (GridIron Experts). Smith finished in the top 10 at each of the 4 major positions (QB/RB/WR/TE) and that helped him cruise to the week 6 accuracy title. Perhaps most impressively, Smith was on target for several of the week’s biggest studs. His ranking (WR #12) for Jordy Nelson (9 rec, 121 yds, 3 TDS) was higher than 94% of the fantasy experts tracked. Meanwhile, Smith had the embattled Shonn Greene (161 yds rushing, 3 TDs) slotted above 97% of the pundits monitored. On top of those picks, Smith also had a good feel for some of the week’s disappointing players. His ranking for Brian Hartline (0 catches) was 5 spots below the expert consensus and he also rated Rashard Mendenhall (6 yards rushing) lower than all but 6 experts.
Kudos also goes out to the staff at Pro Football Focus. The PFF crew had 3 experts finish in the top 10 for the week, which we think is some sort of a record for a single site (who’s keeping track, right?). Record or not, it’s still an impressive showing and it comes on the heels of PFF’s Bryan Fontaine serving up last week’s highest-rated advice. It’s safe to say it’s been a good couple of weeks over at Pro Football Focus.
On the year-to-date front, the good news keeps coming for Jody Smith. His performance in week 6 was strong enough to vault him up to the #1 spot in the season standings. Smith had been lurking in the top 5 the previous three weeks so the move up is well-deserved for one of the steadiest experts this season. Rated right below him is Mike Tagliere (Tags Fantasy Football) with the Sablich Brothers (The New York Times) not far off as well. Tagliere has been in the YTD top 10 every week this season and is the only expert who can make that claim. So, if you’re after consistency, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to check out Tagliere’s advice this week. Meanwhile, the Sablich Brothers are right at home near the top of the leaderboard considering they also pulled off a top 5 accuracy rating last season.
That wraps up this week’s update on our accuracy competition. We’ll be back again next week to fill you in on which experts are providing the best advice. Until then, be sure to check out our weekly rankings (updated all throughout the day) and projections to help out with your week 7 lineups.
