After two years of only dabbling in free contests known as ‘freerolls’ (no cost to enter, but typically a large field and small prize pool), I finally took the plunge and played in a couple $25 buy-in tournaments at FanDuel.
Turned out to be a good decision; I’m going to Cancun next week thanks to the money I won! More importantly, now my wife sees my fantasy football research as an investment (FYI, watching the RedZone channel all day counts as research).
If you want to give it a try, play the exclusive FantasyPros FanDuel contest this weekend. There’s a $25 buy-in and a total prize pool of $2,500. The winner takes home $1,000. The tournament is capped at a maximum of 110 entries, and the contest will run even if only a few people sign up. Yep, if you’re the only one reading this, your odds of winning are pretty darn good.

The contest is a salary cap game where you pick a lineup of players within the total budget allowed. The team that scores the most fantasy points wins. Similar to Yahoo’s Statracker, there’s real-time scoring so you can see where you stand in the leaderboard at all times. There’s new meaning to the phrase MNF Nail-biter when you’re on the cusp of winning thousands of dollars!
Whether you’re a serious player or just someone that’s looking for a way to cure your ‘I’m out of the playoffs’ withdrawal, daily fantasy contests are a great way to scratch your competitive itch. You may even win some much-needed cash for the Holidays. In fact, FanDuel has already paid out a whopping $50 million dollars this year!
Oh, and I almost forgot, a big congrats goes out to the finalists for our $10,000 FantasyPros FanDuel Championship (FPFC). The folks below qualified for this week’s exclusive final, where they’ll compete against each other for $5,000! That’s on top of what they’ve already won in our qualifiers. Good luck and congrats again to all the finalists!
