The Most Accurate Experts from Week 8

We’re officially halfway through the fantasy season which means we’re not too far away from crowning this year’s most accurate expert. Judging by how tight the standings are, the competition is still anyone’s to win and we should be in for an exciting second half as the experts duke it out.

Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, though, let’s check out how the experts did in week 8. We’ll examine which experts did the best job with their picks and also take a look at how the Year-to-Date leaderboard is shaping up.

Congrats to the crew at FFLockerRoom for delivering week 8’s best advice. The staff was particularly impressive at the QB position, where they ranked 9 out of the top 10 fantasy performers as well or better than the Expert Consensus. This includes giving a top 3 ranking to Cam Newton (271 yards 3 TDs). The rating was Cam’s highest of all 131 experts monitored. The FFLockerRoom staff was also among the roughly 18% of experts that correctly had Andy Dalton (325 yards, 5 TDs) slotted as a QB1-caliber player. It didn’t hurt FFLockerRoom’s cause either that they steered away from recommending Michael Vick due to his questionable health. Only 4 out of the 135 experts we tracked went lower on their ranking (QB #13) for Vick. Considering that Vick scored negative points against the Giants, this was sound advice.

FFLockerRoom had more than a few notable WR hits as well. Their ranking (WR #31) of Marvin Jones (4 TDs) was 17 spots above the Expert Consensus. Only 5 experts had a higher opinion on the Cincinnati receiver. They also had Emmanuel Sanders rated 15 spots ahead of the consensus. That turned into a nice sleeper pick as Sanders posted top 10 WR numbers for the week. Lastly, the FFLockerRoom staff took a flier on Leonard Hankerson (+25 spots vs. consensus) in a matchup (@ Denver) that was anticipated to be a shootout. That pick also worked out as Hankerson hauled in his first TD catch since week 1.
