Week 8 DraftStreet Picks from Top Experts

Knowshon Moreno was the top RB taken in the 2009 NFL Draft (#12 overall). Should we be that surprised that's he's #1 on the Broncos depth chart?

Maybe Knowshon’s feeling a little disrespect given his preseason fantasy rankings. He was the top RB taken in the real NFL Draft (#12 overall in 2009). Should we be that surprised that he’s #1 on the Broncos depth chart?

Each week we ask the top daily fantasy experts to each give us their one “must start” of the week for DraftStreet’s salary cap games, including our $6,000 FantasyPros Challenge. Speaking of our contest, congrats to alanw630 for winning our challenge last week. Alan turned his $11 entry into more than $1,000! You should enter our $6,000 Challenge now before it’s too late (capped at 500 entries). Here are the players our featured experts love this week…

Name one player you will definitely have in your DraftStreet Salary Cap lineup this week. Why?

KNOWSHON MORENO (RB, DEN) – $12,860
“Knowshon Moreno was the first guy that came to mind. Yes, he is not cheap (over $12,000, RB4 on the salary list) but when I try and build an optimal lineup I like to mix in solid running backs amongst a few bargains. When you have a strong RB as a foundation, if your sleepers hit you are poised for a top score. Moreno gets to face the best fantasy defense for running back value in my mind, which is Washington. Last week Matt Forte torched that defense for 107 total yards and three touchdowns. LeSean McCoy had nearly 200 yards in Week 1 and James Starks had over 160 yards in Week 2. Moreno will likely have 150 combined yards and at least one score as Denver – Washington will be a shootout.”
Jeff Pasquino, FootballGuys

“I’m very likely to have Knowshon Moreno in my lineup. He’s has the fourth-highest salary among RBs at DraftStreet, but he offers the most expected points per dollar of any of the top-tier running backs, in my view. The game against Washington should be rather high-scoring, and Ronnie Hillman’s fumble last week should ensure that Moreno will get the goal-line carries in week eight.”
Maurile Tremblay, FootballGuys

COLE BEASLEY (WR, DAL) – $4,374
“Cole Beasley will be on most of my teams this week. He has been catching everything Romo throws at him and this game in Detroit looks like a shootout waiting to happen. Oh, and he is very cheap ($4,374) which allows me some wiggle room elsewhere. I’ll be hoping they sit Miles Austin for this one, but even if he gets a few snaps I’m not too worried that he’ll hurt Beasley. You won’t need many points from him to be worth his price and I think you can count on a floor of four receptions for 50 yards and a ceiling that’s much higher in a high scoring affair.”
Chet Gresham, The Fake Football

EDDIE LACY (RB, GB) – $11,375
“Lacy has compiled 20+ touches in each of his last 3 games, running for an average of 100 YPG during that stretch. Green Bay has expressed that they will continue to lean on Lacy. Due to the loss of Finley, Cobb and a hobbled James Jones – it is evident that Lacy will be a benefactor in this offense. Last week, Lacy was also featured in the receiving game, catching 5 balls on a season high 7 Targets.”
Jordan Tozzi, Legion Report

JARED COOK (TE, STL) – $4,091
“I’ll go off the beaten path with this one. People will say I’m crazy with Kellen Clemens at QB and a date with Seattle on tap. However, that’s precisely the reason why I like Jared Cook this week. The Seattle corners will shut down the Rams weak wide receivers and Cook will be the only one Clemens can get the ball to. Plus, with his meager $4,091 salary tag, he doesn’t need to get many points to be worth the cost and it frees up cash to spend on the rest of your roster.”
stlcardinals84, RotoGrinders

MICHAEL VICK (QB, PHI) – $14,790
“There are several players I like this week as great value plays on DraftStreet (coughcough injured* Falcons coughcough), but the player I am consistently putting in all of my teams is Michael Vick. I think he is a borderline top-five option this week against a Giants team that has been an excellent matchup for opposing quarterbacks. Take advantage of Vick’s deflated price (seventh most expensive QB) while he is recovering from an injury of his own, but rest easy with the news that he practiced in full on Wednesday and took ‘a lot’ of the first team snaps as Nick Foles is recovering from a concussion and Matt Barkley isn’t ready for an NFL start. One more note, although Vick was only 6/14 pass attempts for 105 yards in Week 5 against the G-Men before his injury, he had also added 79 rushing yards., which bodes well for his production if he can stay on the field for the entire game.”
Ross Miles, PFF Fantasy

ROB GRONKOWSKI (TE, NE) – $12,847
“Gronk notched 8 grabs (on 17 targets) for 114 yards in his season debut last week. And he narrowly missed hitting 10 catches and 2 TDs. He’s clearly near full health. A TD is in the cards this week against a Miami defense that’s allowed 1 TE score per game this season. ”
Kevin English, Draft Sharks
