The Most Accurate Experts from Week 13

Dec 3, 2013

We’re officially through 13 weeks of the fantasy football season and that means the playoffs are ready to start up in most leagues. With pride, bragging rights and (possibly) money at stake, if there was ever a time for fantasy owners to make sure they’re getting the best advice, this is it.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at how our accuracy contest is shaping up now that another week is complete. We’ll break down which experts nailed their week 13 predictions and also reveal what impact there has been to the year-to-date standings.

Congrats to Mike Clay (Pro Football Focus) for coming through as week 13’s top rated expert. Clay posted multiple first place finishes down the stretch last season so he’s no stranger to saving his best advice for when it counts most. This past week, Clay did especially well with his WR picks. He was one of a handful of experts who wasn’t scared off by Cecil Shorts’ matchup against Browns DB, Joe Haden. Clay’s rank (WR #19) for Shorts was 11 spots above the expert consensus, which was a good call as the Jags’ WR hauled in a TD reception. Clay was also a believer in Brian Hartline vs. the Jets. Only 3 experts ranked the Phins’ wideout higher than Clay (his WR #27). Hartline rewarded the faith by turning in his best game of the season (9/127/1). And, on the other end of the spectrum, Clay gets credit for staying off the Jarrett Boykin bandwagon in week 13. Boykin disappointed fantasy owners everywhere by delivering a fantasy donut on Thanksgiving. Clay had the Packers wideout rated lower than roughly 90% of fantasy experts.
