FanDuel Lineup: Wednesday July 1

Jon Lester has a favorable matchup against the Mets in New York Wednesday

Jon Lester has a favorable matchup against the Mets in New York Wednesday

Tonight provides an 11-game slate and it should be a fun one. Vegas has over half the games with a run total at 8.0 or higher. The pitching options aren’t too shabby with multiple pitchers that can go deep into the game with K upside. The offensive side provides a plethora of teams you can stack in favorable hitting environments. FanDuel’s pricing isn’t as stiff as it should be, so take advantage of that and don’t feel the need to pay up due to cost.

As of now there are only a couple of games with possible weather implications with those being Washington at Atlanta and Chicago at St. Louis. The weather could clear up in time to get the games in but make sure to stay updated on the weather by following Kevin Roth on Twitter @KevinRothWx. He will have a full DFS forecast.

Pitcher

Lester is having a bumpy first season with his new team, and his price has been driven down by it. He gets the start vs. the Mets with an upgrade in ballpark factor. The Mets’ offense has been awful, and they’re a below average team in wOBA vs. left-handed pitchers. They are striking out 23.6% of the time vs. lefties this year, and Lester comes into this matchup with a 22.5 K%. Lester is a small favorite on the road with a run total set at 7.

Other Notables

Catcher

Wieters hits from both sides of the plate and in his career has hit lefties better than righties. This season he is crushing right-handed pitchers with a .433 wOBA, 181 wRC+, .342 ISO. Nick Martinez doesn’t strike out many batters and Camden Yards is very favorable to left-handed hitters.

Other Notables

First Base

Rizzo burned me big time last night, but an important key to success in DFS is to have a short-term memory. Rizzo feasts off righties with 14 of his 15 HR coming against them. Bartolo Colon is a fastball pitcher and Rizzo stands right on the plate. He shouldn’t have any problems making hard contact and has incredible upside tonight.

Other Notables

Second Base

Kendrick is on fire right now. He has 16 hits in his last 10 games and draws a solid matchup vs. Robbie Ray. Chase Field is currently ranked second in ballpark factor this season just behind Coors Field. Enjoy the discount on Kendrick while you can, as he won’t cost below $3,000 much longer.

Other Notables

Third Base

There aren’t many third baseman that have multi-home run upside along with stolen base potential. Bryant will hit at the top of the order, and Colon won’t be able to sneak his fastball by him. He comes into this game with a .368 wOBA, 133 wRC+, .192 ISO.

Other Notables

Shortstop

Castro is minimum salary and has just as much upside as any other SS on the slate besides Carlos Correa. Castro hit cleanup yesterday but that was vs. a lefty. He will most likely hit fifth or sixth in the order, but the lineup should roll over. Castro drew two walks yesterday and could be showing signs of improvement. Expect the Cubs to put up runs and for Castro to have plenty of RBI opportunities.

Other Notables

Outfield

Pollock continues to go under owned regardless of his matchup. Pollock is one of the best when it comes to hitting left-handed pitchers. He owns a .379 wOBA, 138 wRC+, .156 ISO this year vs. southpaws.

Puig’s torn callus on his hand seems to be behind him. His manager, Don Mattingly, has been bouncing him around in the lineup, hitting him second, fourth and fifth. Puig’s ownership percentage has been down and will most likely remain so until he starts to put up huge numbers. He has done a fine job vs. lefties this year with a .472 wOBA, 209 wRC+, .238 ISO.

You will need to make sure to check the Dodgers’ lineup card before locking Van Slyke into your roster. Mattingly is some piece of work when it comes to getting the lineup right. There shouldn’t be any reason SVS doesn’t get start tonight. Van Slyke has a .433 wOBA, 182 wRC+, .267 ISO vs. left-handed pitchers this year.

Other Notables

FanDuel is offering a variety of tournaments tonight with a range of low to high dollar entry fees. Browse through the lobby and reserve your entries before they fill up. Always be sure to check lineups when they come out. You can find sneaky value plays when someone moves up in the lineup especially if they’re playing in a favorable ballpark or facing a below-average pitcher.
