Jose Altuve and the Astros offer an intriguing stack option Tuesday

Welcome to Tuesday’s night’s FanDuel lineup. We have a full 15-game slate to work with and right now it doesn’t look like there will be weather concerns. Still, you should keep yourself updated by following @KevinRothWX on Twitter for up-to-the-minute weather information.

I always enter the lineup from this article in the $1 MLB Bunt GPP which allows for only a single entry. I like this game because I get to play in a large pool of contestants, and everybody is on a level playing field in that they only get one entry. If there are any changes needed once lineups are announced, I will post them at my blog dfsrants.com. Tonight I’m going to do some roster analysis by looking at ownership percentages once the contest has started so take a look at my blog later this evening to see how I did with my picks.

“Other notables” will come from our DFS cheat sheet available here at FantasyPros. I think the cheat sheets can help you find some good value plays if you’re stuck on a certain position.

Pitcher

Tom Koehler – MIA vs. PHI – $7,500

I like Koehler tonight as a pitcher that plays well at home against a Phillies team that hasn’t been too great on the road. In Miami this year, Koehler has as 2.97 ERA and batters are slashing .218/.290/.339 with a .278 wOBA against him. The Phillies are 27th in the major leagues this year with a .294 road wOBA and an 83 wRC+ away from Philadelphia. Miami is a -163 favorite at home tonight.

Other notables

Catcher

Travis d’Arnaud – NYM vs. ATL – $3,400

Travis d’Arnaud probably won’t see obscenely high ownership percentages tonight. He’s the third highest priced catcher and hasn’t performed that well in his last 10 games, hitting safely in just four of them with three multi-hit performances. Still, he faces the very hittable Matt Wisler of the Braves and he has the talent to finish as a top three catcher on the evening.

Other notables

First Base

Anthony Rizzo – CHC vs. MIL – $4,800

I think there are a lot of good cheap options at first base tonight, which makes Rizzo intriguing as I think other players will look elsewhere at this position. Tonight Rizzo is the third highest priced first baseman. He’s hit safely in each of his last seven games with four multi-hit performances, including three doubles and a home run. The Cubs will face Tyler Cravy and his robust 6.42 ERA.

Other notables

Second Base

Jose Altuve – HOU vs. LAA – $3,400

Altuve handles lefties quite well, as he has a .409 wOBA and a 163 wRC+ against them on the season. Hector Santiago is having a really nice year, but he’s probably running out of gas as he’s allowed seven earned runs on 11 hits, including three home runs, in the month of September. I think the Astros are an intriguing stack tonight as there are other stacks like the Rockies and Pirates that could see higher ownership percentages.

Other notables

Third Base

Josh Harrison – PIT @ COL – $3,300

I had to grab at least one share of the Coors players tonight and Harrison is my pick. He’s been sitting when the Pirates faces a righty, but he often starts and hits high in the lineup against lefties. He’s hitting .289/.350/.367 against left-handed pitching this season and faces lefty Chris Rusin tonight. This year, Rusin has given up 12 home runs to right-handed batters.

Other notables

Shortstop

Carlos Correa – HOU vs. LAA – $3,500

Ho hum, another night where I choose Correa as my shortstop. His .377 wOBA and 141 wRC+ against lefties definitely helps make the pick easier. I think the Astros have a good chance of hanging a number of runs on the board against Hector Santiago tonight and Correa is Astro No. 2 in my Houston stack.

Other notables

Lots of intriguing shortstop picks in the Boston/Tampa game tonight!

Outfield

Curtis Granderson – NYM vs. ATL – $3,400

Granderson benefits from facing Matt Wisler who has struggled against lefties this season. Left-handed batters are slugging .639 with a 1.099 OPS against Wisler this season. That’s a .460 OBP for those of you who don’t want to do the math.

George Springer – HOU vs. LAA – $3,300

Springer is Astro No. 3 in my Houston stack against Hector Santiago tonight. He’s hit safely in nine of his last 10 games with two multi-hit performances including a triple, a home run and a stolen base. At home versus lefties this season, Springer has a .399 wOBA and a 156 wRC+.

Dustin Ackley – NYY @ TOR – $2,400

Ackley is my value play of the night. He’s hit safely in eight of his last 10 games with a double, a triple and two home runs. Marco Estrada of the Blue Jays is having a really nice season, but he’s given up six home runs in his last five starts and 12 of his 21 home runs allowed this year have been to lefties. Ackley is definitely a gamble, as left-handed batters are only hitting .201 against Estrada on the year. Still, I think Ackley’s ownership percentages will be low, under 5%, and he has a great shot to take one deep at the Rodgers Centre tonight in Toronto.
