FantasyAces NFL Value Plays: Week 10
Landry Jones has enough firepower put on a fine show against Cleveland

Landry Jones has enough firepower put on a fine show against Cleveland

Whether constructing a cash game lineup or preparing for tournament play, you will need to be able to sort out the value options that are available each week. These plays can arise from a variety of reasons ranging from an injury to simple mispricing. Finding the diamonds in the rough can be the single difference between you and a high-scoring lineup.

We have 13 games on the schedule for Week 10 with four teams on a bye. Last week’s value plays were loaded with gems which included Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, DeAngelo Williams, Chris Ivory, Jeremy Langford, Brandon LaFell and Delanie Walker. Let’s look at some top value plays for Week 10.

Quarterbacks

Landry Jones PIT vs. CLE $5,300
Jones has proved to be a more than capable replacement for Ben Roethlisberger, and he looks to be in line for another start in Week 10. This week he faces the Browns, who rank 26th in fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. If Roethlisberger remains out as expected, Landry is a fine play as he has plenty of weapons at his disposal.

Matt Cassel DAL @ TB $5,200
While I wouldn’t expect a repeat of Cassel’s Week 9 performance, he did show some promise that could carry over into his Week 10 matchup. Tampa Bay has struggled to defend the pass all season, and they made Kirk Cousins look like a stud a few weeks ago. This is a risky play, but there is some upside.

Kirk Cousins WAS vs. NO $5,500
Cousins struggled with his accuracy in Week 9 against the Patriots, but his receivers didn’t do him any favors either. He draws a phenomenal matchup against the Saints in Week 10, who have surrendered a whopping 24 passing touchdowns. He makes for a solid second quarterback this week.

Running Backs

Justin Forsett BAL vs. JAX $4,950
I’ll admit, Forsett has broken my heart a few times this season as he’s flopped in some good matchups. I’m going back to the well this week with the hopes that ownership levels will be down a bit due to those disappointments. The Jaguars have been an overachieving defense, and they rank 24th in fantasy points allowed to running backs. Forsett checks in as a top-five value this week in terms of dollars spent per projected point.

LeGarrette Blount NE @ NYG $4,400
While I’m more inclined to target the Patriots’ passing game this week, I see nothing wrong with taking a flier on Blount. The running back situation is a bit muddled now that Dion Lewis is out, so there’s some risk involved here. With James White expected to enter the mix, there’s no telling what Blount’s usage will be. Keep this for tournament play only and hope for one of those multiple touchdown games.

Eddie Lacy GB vs. DET $4,550
To say that Eddie Lacy has been a disappointment this season is an understatement. He’s averaged 6.88 FantasyAces points per game and has been dealing with nagging injuries all season. Assuming he gets through practices this week unscathed, I would take a look at Lacy for tournaments. The popular pick will be James Starks, and while I won’t argue the logic, ownership levels could be depressed for Lacy. He’s actually cheaper than Starks, and the matchup is a good one against the Lions. I’ve said it all season, but the Packers have got to get Lacy going if they have any hopes of getting deep into the playoffs.

Wide Receivers

Davante Adams GB vs. DET $4,300
Adams saw 11 targets in Week 9 and recorded seven catches for 93 yards against the Panthers. He appears to be fully healthy after an extended absence, and he should continue to see plenty of looks in this offense. He has a plus matchup against the Lions in Week 10 and is a good source of salary relief.

Marvin Jones CIN vs. HOU $4,250
It can be tough to pinpoint who will score the touchdowns in this Cincinnati offense, but that risk is something worth embracing this week. Houston has been generous against the pass and Jones has multiple touchdown upside on any given day. If you’re entering multiple lineups into GPPs, pairing Andy Dalton with Jones could pay big dividends.

Brandon LaFell NE @ NYG $4,700
LaFell saw nine targets in Week 9, and he turned in his most productive game of his short season with five catches and 102 receiving yards. Now that he is healthy, he’s re-establishing his role in this offense, and it’s only a matter of time before he finds the end zone. The Giants have not defended the pass well, and this game could very well turn into a shootout, which makes LaFell a high upside play this week.

Tight Ends

Delanie Walker TEN vs. CAR $4,550
I would have liked to see Walker’s price go up more after last week’s performance, but I would guess it has something to do with the opponent this week. Mariota targets his tight end early and often and this gives Walker a solid floor. Walker is the surest thing that Mariota has in the passing game, and I like him to continue his success as the season progresses.

Eric Ebron DET @ GB $4,200
Ebron is a high upside play due to his abilities in the red zone, but he also carries a low floor. It’s encouraging to see the consistent targets, but the production has been sporadic at best. If you’re looking for a cheaper option in tournament play, consider Ebron this week.

Defense/Special Teams

Green Bay Packers vs. DET $2,750
The Lions are a mess right now, and they have to head on the road to face an angry Green Bay squad that has now lost two games in a row. Matthew Stafford can be turnover prone at times also, making Green Bay the top value this week.
